Celebration of the Life of Chike Onyekwere
– QUINTESSENTIAL – TRENDSETTER – ROLE MODEL

“Every man knows well enough that he is a unique being,
only once on this earth; and by no extraordinary chance
will such a marvelously picturesque piece of diversity
in unity as he is, ever be put together a second time.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche

With heavy hearts, yet, glory to God, the Apugo O. Onyekwere family of Amachara, Umuahia, Abia State, announces the passing into eternal glory of their son, Chikeziri Apugo Onyekwere on 26th January, 2021.

Chikeziri Onyekwere was indeed a ‘unique’ person, aware of the extraordinary talents and opportunities that God gave him to be the best, and to do his best! As his name implies, His ‘Chi’ (God) created him well. Throughout his life, he did his best. Deeply aware of this extraordinary chance, Chike, from his early years had the vision and compassion to serve humanity, to assist the less privileged. Indeed, Chike, would unhesitatingly pull the shirt off his back to tend to a stranger in need. Such was his passion and commitment to service of humanity that in 2015, Chikezirim decided to bring together all his humanitarian and charitable work under ‘one roof’ – the Chikezirim and Chinyere Onyekwere Foundation {CCOF}.

Fulfilling the sense of his ‘unique’ being!

Born on 16th December 1959 in Umuahia – part of the then Eastern Nigeria, the first son to loving parents, renowned disciplinarian, teacher & College Principal, the late Apugo Onuigbo Onyekwere Sr., and Sarah Onyekwere {his mother}, who spent time caring for her twin girls, and Chikeziri upon his birth. The unquestionable affection of his parents earned him the name, Chikeziri Apugo Jr., after his father. That early affection and kindness was ingrained and rooted in Chike throughout, from his early childhood days in London, Port Harcourt, and later, Enugu.

Chike attended Primary schools at Enugu, Wesley Primary School, Uwani, WTC Practicing School, & at Ekulu Primary School. As a brilliant and curious mind, Chike gained admission into to coveted Federal Government College Enugu as one of the pioneer students. His love for Federal Government College Enugu was undeniable. In search of knowledge, Chike migrated to the United States of America where he earned a degree in Engineering. He lived in Michigan, Oklahoma, Houston, and later on settled in New Jersey where he remained until his passing on 26th January. His probing mind to discover and bring solutions influenced his choice of career as an Engineer, and, later, as a computer expert and business initiatives. A true Sagittarian, Chikeziri was born with innate kindness of heart, a pathfinder, a pacesetter, a true servant leader.

As someone once said, ‘what we do flows from who we are’. Chike Onyekwere was a fearless, unique, compassionate, meticulous, detailed person, the consummate quintessential of a man. Chike loved life, and lived it graciously, along with the love of his life, doting on his wife – Chinyere and their lovely children.

He is survived by his mother Sarah, wife Chinyere, children Ekene, Chigozirim, Chiziterem, Chinelo, Christal and Michael, his sisters, Ngozi and Onyinye, brother Chima Uzoma , nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunties, in-laws and friends.

Chike has fought the good fight, he has finished the race. Through it all, Chike kept the faith. May the Lord Jesus Christ grant him the reward, which is reserved for his servants. Amen. {2 Tim: 4:7-8).

As we draw the curtain, we would like to say, Adieu, husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, in-laws, and friend. Till we meet to part no more! Chike has gone to be with God, and his father Apugo, and brother Chukwuemeka Onyeiroajanma.
